Puppy Breathing Fast While Asleep: What Could Be the Cause?
If your puppy is breathing fast while asleep, there are several possible causes. It could be due to an underlying health issue, such as a respiratory infection, allergies, or heart disease. It could also be due to a physical issue, such as an obstruction in the airway or a birth defect. It’s also possible that the puppy is simply dreaming, which can cause them to breathe faster than usual.
What Should You Do If Your Puppy Is Breathing Fast While Asleep?
If your puppy is breathing fast while asleep, the first thing you should do is take them to the vet for a full assessment. Your vet will be able to diagnose the underlying cause and provide a treatment plan. Depending on the cause, the treatment could range from antibiotics to surgery. It’s important to get to the root of the problem so that your puppy can get the help they need.
How Can You Prevent Your Puppy From Breathing Fast While Asleep?
In some cases, the cause of your puppy’s fast breathing while asleep can be prevented. For example, if the cause is an infection, make sure your puppy is up to date on their vaccinations to help prevent them from getting sick. If the cause is allergies, make sure your home is free of allergens such as dust mites and pollen. If the cause is a physical issue, make sure your puppy is getting regular exercise and a healthy diet.
What If Your Puppy Is Still Breathing Fast While Asleep?
If your puppy is still breathing fast while asleep after seeing the vet and implementing any preventative measures, you may want to consider getting them a pet monitor. Pet monitors are wearable devices that track your puppy’s vitals, such as heart rate, respiration rate, and temperature. They can alert you if there is a change in your puppy’s vitals and give you peace of mind that your puppy is healthy and safe.
