Do Your Research
Doing your research is the best way to make sure you’re getting the right puppy for your family. Start by researching different breeders in your area. Look for breeders who are reputable and have a good reputation. Ask around your family and friends to get recommendations, and read reviews online. Pay attention to how the puppies are kept, and make sure the environment is clean and safe.
Visit the Breeder
Once you’ve done your research, it’s time to visit the breeders. Make sure you call ahead and make an appointment. During the visit, take your time and get to know the breeders and the puppies. Ask questions about the parents of the puppies, their health history and any other questions you may have. This will give you a better understanding of the breeders and the puppies they have available.
Choose the Right Puppy
When you visit a breeder, you will be able to choose the right puppy for your family. Be sure to look at the puppies closely and observe their behavior. A good breeder will be able to answer any questions you have and provide you with the right information. When it comes to choosing a puppy, you should also consider their age and size. German Shepherd puppies generally grow to be very large dogs, so it is important to make sure you get the right size for your family.
Vet Checkups
Another important factor to consider when getting a German Shepherd puppy in Illinois is their vet checkups. It is important to make sure the puppy is healthy and up-to-date on all their shots. Make sure you take the puppy for regular vet checkups and follow the breeder’s instructions for care. This will ensure your puppy lives a long and healthy life.
Training and Socialization
It is also important to make sure your German Shepherd puppy is properly trained and socialized. This breed is extremely intelligent and can be trained easily, but they do need to be trained properly. Make sure you enroll your puppy in a puppy class and begin training as soon as possible. This will help your puppy learn the rules of the household and how to be a well-mannered dog.
