Making St. Patrick’s Day Fun for Your Dog
Every March 17th, people around the world celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. While in the past this meant going to the pub and wearing green, this year, many of us are looking for new ways to make the most of the holiday while staying at home. Just because you’re stuck indoors doesn’t mean your pup can’t celebrate too! There are plenty of ways to make St. Patrick’s Day a fun and special day for your furry friend.
One great way to celebrate is to give your pup a special treat. Whether it’s a new toy, a few extra treats, or a special dinner, your pup is sure to appreciate the extra attention. You can even find special treats made for dogs that are dyed green, if you’re feeling extra festive. Just make sure you check the ingredients list and give your pup something that is safe and won’t upset their stomach.
Organize a Doggy Parade
If you’re stuck indoors, you can still get some fresh air and enjoy the holiday with your pup by organizing a doggy parade. Invite your friends and their fur babies to come over and dress up in their greenest gear. You can even turn it into a costume contest if you want to really have some fun. Just make sure you practice good social distancing and keep your gathering small. Everyone can take a few laps around the block, and you can even snap some photos to remember the day.
Go on a Scavenger Hunt
If you’re looking for a fun activity to do indoors, why not try a scavenger hunt? Hide some of your pup’s favorite treats around the house, and have them sniff out the hidden treasures. This is a great way to keep your pup’s mind sharp and give them a fun challenge. If you’re feeling extra creative, you can even turn it into a game of “Find the Leprechaun” and hide some little leprechaun dolls around the house. Just make sure your pup won’t try to eat the dolls!
Do Some Crafts Together
If you’re feeling a little crafty, why not create something special to commemorate the day? You can make a St. Patrick’s Day themed picture frame for a photo of your pup, or a festive wreath for the door. You can even make a special dog-friendly snack like green pupcakes or shamrock-shaped treats. Just make sure you use ingredients that are safe for your pup, like peanut butter, apples, and oats. It’s a great way to spend quality time together and create something special.
Have a Movie Night
If you’re looking for a cozy way to spend the evening, why not have a movie night with your pup? Grab some popcorn and settle in with your pup for a movie marathon. You can watch a classic like The Luck of the Irish, or an animated movie like The Secret of Kells. You can even find some Irish themed documentaries or films to get in the spirit of the day. Don’t forget to have some dog-friendly snacks on hand too!
Make New Memories
No matter what you decide to do, the most important part of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day is to make some special memories with your pup. Whether you’re crafting, eating snacks, or just cuddling up for a movie, make sure you take the time to appreciate all the joy your pup brings to your life. Here’s to having a happy and safe St. Patrick’s Day with your pup!
