Rescuing Bernese Mountain Dogs in North Carolina
The Bernese Mountain Dog, or Berner as they are affectionately called, is a beautiful and loyal breed of dog that can make a great addition to any family. Originally from the Swiss Alps, these dogs are incredibly friendly and make great family pets. Unfortunately, in recent years, there has been an increasing number of Bernese Mountain Dogs in need of rescue in North Carolina.
Bernese Mountain Dog Rescue of North Carolina (BMDRNC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping Berners in need. They are a volunteer-driven organization that provides rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of Berners in safe, loving homes. BMDRNC is dedicated to educating the public about the breed and providing support and resources to adopters.

Adopting a Bernese Mountain Dog

This application helps the organization understand what kind of home the dog will be going to and what kind of family will be best suited for the dog. After the application is reviewed, potential adopters may be asked to attend an in-person meet and greet with the dog, as well as an in-home visit to ensure the home is appropriate for the dog.
Once the adoption is finalized, the new family will be provided with a welcome packet which includes a contract, health records, and other helpful information. BMDRNC also offers post-adoption support and guidance. This includes behavior help, nutrition advice, and more.

If you are unable to adopt a Bernese Mountain Dog, there are still plenty of ways to help. Donations are always welcome and can be made via the BMDRNC website.
