Capturing the process of your pup’s pregnancy is a fun way to track the development of your furry friend’s pregnancy and document the excitement of welcoming a new litter of puppies into your life.
How to Track Your Dog’s Pregnancy with Pictures
In order to accurately track your pup’s pregnancy with pictures, you’ll need to take photos at each week of the pregnancy. Your dog’s veterinarian can provide you with a general timeline of the pregnancy, so you’ll know when to snap that perfect shot. Generally, most dog pregnancies last an average of 63 days.
Week One
At the start of your pup’s pregnancy, you won’t be able to detect any major changes in her body. However, you can still take a picture of your pup and document her pre-pregnancy health. This can be useful for comparing your pup’s weight after she gives birth.
Week Two
At this stage of the pregnancy, your pup’s belly will begin to swell ever so slightly. You can capture this momentous development with a picture and compare it to future pictures to track the progress of your pup’s pregnancy.
Weeks Three and Four
At this point, your pup’s belly will have grown noticeably larger. By now, you may even be able to feel the puppies kicking and moving around inside your pup’s belly. This is a great time to take a picture of your pup and document her progress.
Weeks Five and Six
At the fifth and sixth week of your pup’s pregnancy, her belly will be even larger and more noticeable. Now is the time to take lots of pictures of your pup and document her pregnancy. The puppies will be more active and you may even be able to count how many puppies are in the litter.
Weeks Seven Through Nine
At these final weeks of the pregnancy, your pup’s belly will be larger than ever. You can take pictures at this stage, but it’s important to remember that your pup will be feeling the effects of the pregnancy and she may not be in the mood for posing. Make sure to take plenty of pictures and document the entire journey of your pup’s pregnancy.
